"the first rule....."

as i promised a couple days back
i am updating the blog
with some images from my latest shoot and project

the original shoot was conceived with only three models
but
as i have had issues in the past
i ended up booking 5 models
just in case someone canceled
needless to say
they all committed
and
all stayed in contact
and
all showed up on time

the makeup artist
i cant say enough about Lauren and her hard work
she was amazing and patient

i worked out the lighting in my head for a couple different days
and
decided to actually draw it out
so my assistants would know what i wanted and needed them to do

fortune cookies are awesome

so
i have this tattoo on my left wrist
of an anatomical heart
it has to do with a fortune cookie i got many years back
that said:
"you wear your heart on your sleeve"

i recently came across this image


it made me start thinking about some of the things i have chosen to do in the past couple years
i quit a really good and secure job in the insurance industry
to go back to school and finally finish my degree
original plan was to do my BFA in studio art and a minor in history along with my teaching certification
somehow
i changed plans with about a year of school left
to pursue my photography
and
its been the best decision ever!

i just wrapped up a shoot with 5 models
one amazing MUA
and some great people assisting me

ill be posting the lighting set up
and
some behind the scenes shots soon
before i drop the first processed image from the shoot

Help Portrait Part 2

so
things are shaping up
and moving quickly already

my best friend, Dez is the one heading up the Austin movement for Help Portrait.

Jeremy gave him the go ahead on the website for Austin
We will be adding more info and updates as we get them

If you are wanting to volunteer your time, services, help pass out food/drinks, whatever it is you can and want to do

i came across this project today while sitting outside the school studio

i think this is an amazing idea
and can bring a lot of joy and happiness to a lot families

so
now the quest begins to find designers, makeup artists, hair stylist and others willing to do a big production style event
to make some really great memories for some really deserving people
