and i add more to this again today

today i learned that i lost a really good and close friend
Jonyrose Filip


we met easily about 3 years ago
we had talked off and on about working together
at that time she was modeling more than she was shooting
she canceled on me
i canceled on her
and then everything fell together and we finally got to work together
what ensued was 3 hours of laughter and a general good time getting to know each other

we talked off and on over the next year
and then finally
we worked together again about a year later with her as the model again
in that time
she had dove headfirst into her own photography
and her work was brilliant
her color palette
her framing
her way of editing
it was nothing short of unique and brilliant

she and i would talk for hours about photography
what was good
what was bad
i showed her my photoshop tricks
she showed me the things she did
i tried
rather poorly
to show her how amazing of a tool lightroom was for her style of workflow
hell
i was supposed to try to reinstall photoshop and lightroom on her computer before this most recent trip back to miami

after this
we worked together even more
but this time
it wasnt just with me shooting her
it was us working together
she got a new lighting set up
and a space to shoot in
so i would go and help her on shoots
show her different lighting setups
we would sit there and talk shop
lighting
framing
running the models we worked with through the ringer
and there was constant energy
she was surrounded with it
there was always a smile on her face
and her laugh
she was always laughing
and always made others smile and laugh
there were many days that she helped bring me out of my funk
and remember how good it was to be in the line of work we were in
and that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to make it happen

then she moved to florida and we didnt get to stay in contact as well as we could
some of that was out of our control
but we remained close friends
then recently she came back to austin
we immediately lined up a shoot with our friend, rachel
jony and i shot that poor girl for hours
and the images were amazing
it was so great to be able to catch up with my friend
and
to work beside her again
she pushed me to work harder and make better images
without making it feel like we were competing with each other

a little over a week and a half ago
rachel, jony and myself were trying to line up another shoot together before she went back out to miami
we set a date
and then jonyrose, in her absent mindedness that we all came to love
remembered she was going to be in miami already
so rachel and i carried on with the date and made it work
without jony there
and now
we all have to carry on without her there





and this damn song
will forever remind me of you
thanks to the time we shot together with kristine
